What befalls the earth {Poem}

It’s a mad world,

but you and the mountains are still here

the tomatoes are growing

and the nightingale keeps singing

nature goes on like nothing happens

each year the mulberry tree bears fruit

and loses her leaves in winter

when the leaves are falling

we too are given a sign of nature

to save energy and prepare for another season

we are almost in summer now

and the fig trees use all their energy

to give us the best they have

every summer again, like nothing happened

like the moon that shines on our path

it makes me wonder: do I give the best I have?

possibly, but only if you deserve it

so what do we do to deserve nature’s goodness?

we violate and treat her bad often, neglect her and

carelessly spill our garbage and leave

we don’t deserve her generosity, her faith, her gifts

but the thing is, what we do to her, we do to ourselves

just the same as this Indian proverb goes:

what befalls the earth, befalls all the sons and daughters of the earth

Everything is intertwined.

My little gift for you…
